The New Life Skills Training Center Farm
is located by Mirigeda, about 20 minutes east of Port Moresby on the Maggi
Highway. The training center is home to over 170 young men between the ages of 16 and 23. The
New Life Skills Training Center
is a rehabilitation program that offers young men an opportunity at life. The majority of young men within our program are straight off the streets of Port Moresby. In this society, young men from the settlements or streets are viewed as useless rascals. Our goal is to provide these young men the opportunity to change in the name of Jesus.
The young men at the center go through the 14-month New Life Program. The
New Life Skills Program focuses to rehabilitate each program participant spiritually, mentally and physically. We first and foremost, offer continuous spiritual training and guidance, through our daily devotions, Wednesday and Sunday services and counseling from our
resident Pastor. Throughout their stay within the New Life Skills Program, each participant will go through four phases.
The first phase consists of building a relationship with Jesus and working in the fields, this phase focuses on physical rehabilitation. In this phase we
focus on structure, discipline and work ethic. The second phase focuses on building mental capacity through literacy, numeracy and vocational training. We offer vocational training in carpentry, welding, cooking, hospitality, security, animal husbandry and screen printing. The third phase places each participant in on the job training in a field of interest, while still living at the farm. The fourth phase, helps them find permanent employment as well as mentors
to help them on budgeting money and continuing to live a Godly lifestyle. We hope, to turn young men who were previously a burden on society into quality, engaged citizens of PNG.
